According to the results of the research on mobile application usage in the USA prepared by ComScore, the time users spend on social media increased by 24% compared to the previous year. The 52% increase in mobile application usage is thought to have a major impact on this increase.

While other applications such as Instagram, Youtube and Netflix are the most used by users under the age of 35, Facebook Messenger and Yahoo Mail are more preferred over the age of 35.
Users mostly prefer social media applications in mobile applications. This is followed by games, messaging apps, TV shows and music apps. One of the emerging genres is applications in the field of health and personal development.
Place of Mobile Application in Turkey
According to statistics on this subject in our country, 1 out of every 5 people uses a smart phone. Turkey is in the top 10 in the list of countries where the use of smartphones has increased the fastest. Smartphone users in Turkey spend about 2 hours of their day dealing with their phones. 42% of users prefer smartphone apps to watching TV. 23% of users, on the other hand, follow information about the program and current posts on social media on their phones while watching television.
This increase in the use of mobile applications has enabled the mobile software industry to grow. According to the studies carried out by IDC, the number of smartphones sold worldwide will exceed 1 billion by the end of 2016. Considering the current situation of the application market, it is predicted that the number of applications to be downloaded from the stores will reach 270 million in 2017. Mobile application developers are expected to generate $70 billion in revenue from the industry in 2017.
